Elizabeth Berkley tries to hitch a ride in Showgirls

“You Don’t Nomi” Showgirls-Inspired Cocktail

March 22, 2021 By Hollywood Suite Staff Go Back

With spring officially here, it’s tempting to want to run to the nearest open patio and grab a few socially distanced drinks with your friends. But Alana Nogueda and Aviva Rosnick of Toronto’s Las Vegas-inspired (and celebrity-admired) restaurant Legal Tenders are here to assure that there’s no shame in keeping the party (and the party beverages) close to home a little while longer.

For our latest Reel Meals, Nogueda and Rosnick are offering up an original cocktail recipe perfect for pairing with a rewatch of the Vegas-set cult classic Showgirls (1995). An adaptation of the Porn Star Martini, the cleverly titled “You Don’t Nomi” (named after the film’s outrageously ambitious lead character, aspiring dancer Nomi Malone) is sure to bring the so-bad-it’s-good vibes to any Zoom movie night or virtual happy hour.

Learn how to make your own “You Don’t Nomi” cocktail (with or without alcohol) below. And don’t miss Showgirls all March on Hollywood Suite On Demand!

About Legal Tenders

Alana Nogueda and Aviva Rosnick of Toronto’s Las Vegas-inspired restaurant Legal Tenders pose with stacks of US currency

Legal Tenders was born in the midst of Pandemic Land, November 2020. Created by Aviva and Alana as a way to support The Shameful Tiki Room while being shut down. A Las Vegas inspired Chicken Tender Joint. The Las Vegas theme is close to heart as Alana originates from Sin City. Living there for almost 20 years and going there often with Aviva, the love for Vegas is strong. Having that nostalgic ingredient of Chicken Tenders (which you can find on every Las Vegas Casino restaurant menu) was what we wanted to focus on. Who doesn’t love ordering off of the kid’s menu? With that we introduced elements of kitsch which is also something we love, from menu design to fun weekly specials. Our Cocktail Program also ties in The Shameful Tiki Room with delicious tropical libations to pair with our food, as well as a weekly Drag Race Cocktail Club, Shantay You Stay Home in collaboration with the Speakeasy Tattoo Twitch channel.
