Slasher: Ripper
Coming April 2023
Canada’s iconic horror anthology returns for another season this year with a look to the past as a sadistic killer terrorizes society’s elite in the late 19th century. Eric McCormack leads the ensemble cast on the trail of the killer known only as The Widow as they cut a bloody swath across town but, as with every season, it’s hard to tell if the star will catch the killer or merely become another gruesome victim.
Excalibur (1981)
Premieres Friday, January 27 at 9pm ET on HS80

In spite of advances in special effects technology and filmmaking, somehow nobody has captured quite the same spirit of Fantasy storytelling as John Boorman in his classic adaptation of Le Morte d’Arthur. Gauzy, dazzling visuals mix with heightened and wild performances from the likes of Helen Mirren and Nigel Terry while still delivering one of the more thoughtful and authentic reproductions of the King Arthur legend.

Todd Haynes is often known for his incisive looks at the past and he created one of the best skin-crawling, down-to-earth horror films of the 90s with this unusual indie hit. Julianne Moore stars as an 80s housewife who becomes mysteriously ill with reactions to the environment around her and struggles to find support and the truth about her condition while those around her question her sanity.
Bugsy Malone (1976)
Premieres Saturday, January 28 at 9pm ET on HS90
Available on demand in January
Director Alan Parker wrote and directed one of the more unusual entries in 70s family cinema with this raucous all-kid gangster musical. Jodie Foster and Scott Baio star in this film that is at-once a fairly straight-faced retelling of the tale of the iconic gangster but also filled with over-the-top musical numbers and guns that shoot cream and pies to keep the story kid safe.
