Two angels, Damiel and Cassiel, watch over the people of a divided Berlin, listening to the thoughts of the people of the city, but unable to interact with the physical world. After falling in love with a beautiful trapeze artist, Damiel grows weary of his detached immortality, until actor Peter Falk offers a solution that might allow him to experience the pain and joy of humanity for himself.
