The Debt (2010)
In 1965, young Mossad agent Rachel Singer (Jessica Chastain) and two comrades (Sam Worthington, Marton Csokas) are involved in a secret mission to capture a Nazi war criminal known as the Surgeon of Birkenau (Jesper Christensen). The mission ends with the man’s death on the streets of East Berlin. Thirty years later, a man claiming to be the doctor has appeared, and Rachel (Helen Mirren), haunted by memories of past events, must return to Eastern Europe to uncover the truth.

The Last Station (2009)
In 1910, famed novelist Leo Tolstoy (Christopher Plummer) and his wife Sofya (Helen Mirren) vehemently disagree over the rights to Tolstoy’s literary legacy. Sofya believes her husband should bequeath them to her upon his death, while Tolstoy’s chief disciple, Chertkov (Paul Giamatti), has nearly convinced the writer to sign the rights over to the Russian people. To this end, Chertkov inserts a spy into Tolstoy’s household, who promptly falls for one of the novelist’s daughters.

The Queen (2006)
In the wake of a national tragedy, the Prime Minister and royal family find themselves quietly at odds. The initial reluctance of Buckingham Palace to mourn Diana is seen by the public as a sign of cool emotional distance, but Tony Blair (Michael Sheen), perceiving a potential public-relations disaster in the making, takes it upon himself to persuade Queen Elizabeth (Helen Mirren) to pay tribute to the dead princess.
