American Psycho director Mary Harron had trouble casting some of the roles in the film, thanks to the controversy surrounding the violence in the original novel by writer Brett Easton Ellis. One role was easily cast though, Harron’s co-screenwriter Guinevere Turner, who is also an actor, took on the role of Elizabeth.
